Wine growers with great potential

Tomas & Giesen operates according to the principle of a modern network. Fabrizio Tomas, Stefano Borsa and Stefan Giesen have good contacts with wine growers in southern Italian wine-growing regions such as Abruzzo, Campania, Apulia and Sicily, which have a critical role to play here. The ten or so wine growers who are participating in this project have one critical feature in common: they cultivate excellent properties, which are planted with indigenous varieties. These are often old vines with a great potential for quality. In the past, these wine growers have sold their harvest to cooperatives and wine merchants.

We have supported these wine growers in their changeover to controlled organic cultivation. Work in the vineyard is planned as a joint exercise, so that the optimal quality potential can be achieved in each case. Winemaking takes place on a contract basis in local wineries in the regions concerned. All critical steps in the process are monitored by us locally. The head office of Tomas & Giesen in Castelnuovo Berardenga is then responsible for marketing and selling the wines.
